"In essentials, unity; non-essentials liberty; but in all things we need love."

-St. Augustine

We take a closed-hand/open-hand approach in regards to doctrine, politics, traditions, etc… The closed hand grabs firmly onto the non-negotiable doctrines of Christian orthodoxy: sin is the problem, Jesus is the answer, the Bible is true, etc... The open hand, however, allows room for differences when it comes to secondary issues; we allow freedom for conscience and wisdom to guide where the Bible is silent. The open hand fosters unity among the diversity of expressions found in our congregation: Democrats and Republicans, soccer moms and a generation of colorful youth, Kentucky fans and Hoosier fans ; )

We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God in which we base our beliefs, our faith, and our conduct upon.

We believe that Jesus Christ died on a cross and shed his blood to justify us from our sins. Our salvation comes by grace alone through faith in the finished work on the cross. Humanity's only hope of redemption from our fallen state comes through the shed blood of Jesus.

We believe in one GOD who is exists in three persons; the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost.

We believe unequivocally in the Deity of our Lord Jesus Christ; Jesus being both fully man and fully God.

We believe in the baptism of the Holy Ghost being a separate work apart from salvation for the empowering of the believer for the work of the ministry. We affirm that all believers receive the Holy Ghost upon salvation but that there is a separate event outlined in scripture called the Baptism of the Holy Ghost.

We believe in all of the gifts of the Spirit as outlined in 1 Corinthians Ch.12-14 such as prophesy, healing, miracles, tongues, faith, etc... That these gifts are for today and are available to every believer to demonstrate the power of the Kingdom of God, "on earth as it is in heaven."

We believe that the five-fold ministry gifts of the apostle, prophet, evangelist, teacher and pastor are for today and are for the purpose of equipping the saints for the work of the ministry.

We believe in water baptism and communion as two important ordinances to be observed by the Church.

We believe in the Church, being the body of Christ in which Jesus is the head. We believe the church is the people of God demonstrating the reality of the Kingdom to a lost and dying world. It is our job as the church to demonstrate that Kingdom and to seek and save the lost as mandated by the head of the church, Jesus Christ. We believe the church as the body of Christ should naturally reproduce itself and multiply as we are fulfilling the Great Commandment, a true disciple will make disciples.

We believe that God has called the Church to preach the Gospel to all nations, tribes, and tongues. We are also to remember the poor and to minister to their needs through sacrificial giving and practical service. This is an essential part of the Gospel and close to the heart of Jesus.

We believe in the Communion of the saints. That God has not called us to isolate ourselves but to be a community of believers who love God passionately and love each other sincerely. We believe the community should strive to build strong relationships with one another through regular fellowship, breaking of bread, true accountability, and bearing one another burdens in love, selflessness, and deep humility.
